In the Incubator.org Community area, you can tag people based on a various different parameters and cases, depending on the friendship status, privacy, replies, group or event membership and many other factors.

Tagging Cases
  1. When you compose a new post from post box on profile or home page, you will only be able to tag yourself and your friends.
  2. When you reply to activity stream item on the home or profile page, you will be able to tag yourself, all your friends and everyone who participated in that particular story.
  3. In public group or public event, you will be able to tag yourself, all your friends, and all members of that particular group or event.
  4. In private group or private event, you will only be able to tag yourself and members of that group or event.
  5. In private messages, when there are more than two (2) people in conversation, you can tag all participants in the conversation.
  6. Tagging on photo, video and album comments is also available and you can tag the owner of the item, as well as existing commenters.
  7. You can not tag same person more than once in single item.
  8. All tagged people will receive a proper notification that they are being tagged.

Tagging is initiated by @ character continued with peoples name. All available people you can tag will be shown in the dropdown to choose from. Select who you want to tag, and continue writing the message.

Much the same as most Social Media platforms, when you're replying, the tag (which is the @ symbol) links the person that you tagged. The link is connected to their account profile. This originated with Twitter, but is the same for Facebook, etc.

But to try answer your question: I would tag you by doing this: @Mike Rohrbach

Note: Your question and my answer here, is in the Discussion Forum ... "Mike Rohrbach replied to the topic 'Tagging People' in the forum" ...
so tagging doesn't work quite the same here in the Forum area. The tagging feature --as described in the original description-- is primarily intended for the Community feed, i.e. posting under the upper right menu item labeled as Community: incubator.org/community )

As I just implied in my suggestion to you, we are working with novices to experts in general and in social media. This description, for instance, needs to be somewhere in the help menu so the user can search on the explanation. What is it, what does it do for you and how will it help you in the future.
