Dear Teacher's, Parent's, Student's, Director's & Community Leaders:
In 2019 COBACH College Prep High school in Nogales Mexico, signed an agreement with CCLAC, based in Tucson, Arizona; with the main objectives is to enable cultural exchange, and in effort to strengthen the English & Spanish language skills for the participating students to practice conversation with a peer who they would also assist in teaching and learning a 2nd language.
This is part of the COBACH campus course “English for industrial relations” This collaborative activity provides access to Mexico & U.S. student exchange program to complete 150 hours of digital community service.
We want to continue to offer quality service; under the supervision that allows this exchange we ask for your support & join us as we have resumed this cultural exchange activities, which was paused by school closures. With the unprecedented time we have gathered all the resources possible and are using our virtual tools to move forward.
It is very important for the success of the program to participate as a facilitators in the English/Spanish area, so we ask for your participation to help with aspects and details of the program. We had our first virtual meeting with Mexico, COBACH students and coordinators on Tuesday November 24, 2020. [ the Spanish recoded meeting is attached ] This was a successful meeting, the meeting allowed us to see the interest of the COBACH students in Mexico who are ready to participate, enrolled & get partnered with our Arizona, particularly Tucson area youth. In order to partner the youth we are asking high school age youth to enroll as participants at https://incubator.org/
It is not CCLAC’s task to enroll Arizona students in this language exchange. We value the work that we provide but are asking the youth to take the initiative and participate on their own, & to value the learning of the English/Spanish language along with enthusiasm for the opportunity to teach among peers.
We therefore ask for your collaboration to invite students who wish to fulfill their community service hours through this program and who can also hold a conversation in Spanish. The main activity when exchanging experiences with students in the United States is the practice of English by the students at COBACH and practice of Spanish for the students in Arizona, thus enhancing the language for both. Youth affiliation with a specific school is not required, the youth will be awarded 150 hour of community service with successful completion of the Cultural English/Spanish exchange program. All this, with enthusiasm for social interaction, collaborative learning and mutual respect.
We appreciate your cooperation and participation
