The "internet" you experience is all up to you. If you are confused by computers and you just type problems into Google you're going to get a virus. If you spend all day on Social Media Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, You will be misinformed and a number used to validate other companies' ad spends. If you use it to chat, Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp you will be scammed.

Everything the internet is good at is abused. And if you just go "To The Internet!" and start looking for something like buying a car or an article on how healthy milk is you are going to be thrashed and attacked by ads and cookies and so many videos in the background and useless irrelevant information you end up either not getting the information you wanted or you get it in spite of the website.

"The Internet" is now simply another consumer and marketing platform. Back in the 90s people were saying what if the big businesses took control of the internet well they did and unless you know exactly what you are looking for and how to get there you are going to struggle.

Sure we have Wikipedia, thepiratebay, bitcoin, and GitHub.
But think of this as the world that's like saying we have Libraries, Thieves, commodity markets(pawn shops), and scientific collaboration.

Of course, those things would exist on the internet they have always existed in the world. For a while the internet was fringe so it was full of more fringe things as it has become the everyday tool of all of us. It has evolved to look like the rest of society.
